Illuminati

Sandy and I recently visited this magical windy hillside in Point Reyes, and it reminded me of this lovely song by The Pastels. More photos coming soon..

If you, like myself, work somewhere in the world of graphic design, commercial art, advertising, visual communications, or what have you (or even if you don't!), you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice by not becoming more aware of the genius that is Milton Glaser. His best-known work is without a doubt the insanely ubiquitous I heart NY logo , but with a career that spans decades (he's 80 now and still doing amazing things), he's also produced iconic work in the realm of poster design, magazine design, typography and more.
Okay, so he's a graphic guru to say the least. But more importantly, Milton Glaser probably has my favorite worldview from anyone in recent history including Barack Obama. Words would fall short here if I go into any detail but trust me on this one...go see the newly released documentary To Inform & Delight or just listen to this amazing TedTalk that he gave recently and judge for yourself. My favorite take-away: with Glaser the definition of what it means to create great art and great design are one and the same. The only further thing needed in his equation: a little bit of talent and whole lot of passion.

Things We Love
A very Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, with a special shout-out to our own, of course! And in case you are in need of a last-minute card, the sweet and talented Samantha Hahn designed the above which you can download and print for your own pop. You can find it here and here.

Thanks to our friend Geoff (and The Die Line) we discovered that Target is carrying General Mills cereals, as well as Oreos and Ritz, in vintage boxes. Looks like we may need to make a trip...

Things We Love
We were super-honored when our friends Ann and Dave of Love Like Fire asked us to design a poster for their upcoming tour. (Final results at right, the models may look familiar...) SF folks can catch them tomorrow night at The Independent with Art Brut, and you can find more tour dates here.
