Manifest Equality

We're super-honored to be a part of the Manifest Equality show happening in LA this week, joining quite an arsenal of artists and the LGBT community to demand full and equal rights for all Americans. (Our contribution, "Young Kenneth", is above.) The show will be open to the public March 3rd through March 7th between the hours of 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with extended hours Friday through Sunday. Click here to find out more details, plus other ways to advocate for marriage equality.

Chris + Annie

We came across kindred spirits Chris and Annie Koelle a while back while participating in a Poppytalk Handmade Market, and have been meaning to do a post on them ever since!

The talented pair met in college as art majors and make all kinds of good stuff together. We love following their work and inspiration on their blog, where we discovered Annie has a philosophy very similar to ours:
I think I have several goals I try to accomplish with each piece of art: to express my personal appreciation for the object shown and to provoke the viewer to appreciation for that object when they come across it again in their own lives. Did I explain that correctly? How about this: be thankful for all the wonderful things you have been given—strawberries, breakfast, cake, birds, lovely brooches, everything.

One of those wonderful things we share an appreciation of? Bikes! Be sure and check out Chris's bike art shop, Sweet Ride, as well as the Koelle Art blog and shop.

Valentine's Shop Update

Would you believe it's already time to start thinking about Valentine's Day? Seems like Christmas was just yesterday. Luckily, we've stocked our shop with lots of treats for your sweet one, like the Wood You Believe gocco print above, plus the banners, buttons, and prints below. We've even brought back our popular pictogram and cross stitch valentines, and have a couple things for the somewhat jaded.

Top row: "Just Because" banner, "Always" print, "Waiting - Could Be" button set
Middle row: "Meet Me In Dreamland" banner, "Favorite" print, "Devotion" print
Bottom row: Pictogram valentine, Cross Stitch valentine, "It'll End In Tears" print

Hello 2010

We've somehow managed to have both a productive and relaxing week off, and are ready for 2010! To start, we've made some improvements to our site. Alas, we had to retire our image of the day series, as it ended up being too much for us to keep up with. But you can still view the 2009 collection here and here (with lists).

For 2010 we've switched to weekly images in our banner, and are happy to announce that when you scroll through the images, the lists change as well. Click on the minus sign on the left side of the image (visible on rollover) to start exploring. You can also find the archive here and subscribe here.

And last but not least, we're excited to continue our collection of weekly links and monthly quotes in the sidebar, which you can now also subscribe to here and here.

Of course, as compulsive listmakers, we had to make a list of resolutions for 2010, one of which is to be more active. The plan is to start our mornings with a walk around the neighborhood, the first of which we did today. See more photos here.
