The Singer

I'm a lucky girl—when Matthew and I got married, his amazing vintage Singer sewing machine was part of the bargain. But truth be told I've always been a little intimidated by it, so I decided to conquer my fears at long last and just completed The Works introductory package at Craft Haven. I can't say enough good things about the classes—I now know my way around buttonholes and zippers and other fun stuff, and what's more, I have a solid understanding of how the machine works. (We used much newer machines in class, but the overview was detailed enough that I was able to figure out the equivalents on our 401a.)

So of course, all I want to do in my free time now is sew. If anyone has any good starter projects, please let me know!

Get Your Kix

Thanks to our friend Geoff (and The Die Line) we discovered that Target is carrying General Mills cereals, as well as Oreos and Ritz, in vintage boxes. Looks like we may need to make a trip...

Recent Etsy Buys

I seem to be loving gingham and green these days. Clockwise from top left: vintage Samsonite train case from Epoca Vintage, iphone cozy (complete with earbud pocket!) from Blythe King, checkbook cover from Tinymeat, and oilcloth lunch bag from Julie Meyer.

And speaking of etsy, we are getting close to our 100th sale! We're still deciding what to do to celebrate, but it's safe to say that buyer number 100 will get a special treat.

Really Truly

Our good friend Shannon is launching her etsy shop today, no joke! Her shop, Really Truly Vintage, features hand picked vintage clothing and accessories with a few cute trinkets thrown in for good measureand Shannon's got the best taste of pretty much anyone I know, so I'm sure this is going to be good. She'll be adding new items to the shop all day, but there's a sneak peek of a couple items below. (I'm seriously tempted by that whale print raincoat...)

And while we're singing Shannon's praises, she's also got a new blog, as well as an amazing collection of photos on flickr: vintage signs and amusement parks, polaroids and photobooths, rollerskating madness, and more. Not to be missed!
