Shop Update!

We've been hard at work updating our Etsy shop for Poppytalk Handmade's upcoming Boxing Week and Pre-Valentine's Day Market! We're especially excited to introduce our gocco grab bags, which are home-sewn in patterned fabrics and screenprinted with a vintage bicycle, and contain: a print, a notecard set, and a pocket notebook, all for $16. Quite a deal, if we do say so ourselves!

A sneak peek into one of the grab bags.

We're also excited to be offering framed prints in out shop now!

Plus we've added a bunch of button sets made from vintage wrapping paper and sheet music.

And it may seem a little early, but we've restocked our valentines too. Click here to see all the new additions!

Back to School

Sometimes you put something out there and the universe just responds: days after this post about looking for beginning sewing projects, I read about Home Ec on Poppytalk and it fits the bill perfectly! It's an online sewing class with 26 different projects, each designed to teach a new skill, and I signed up pronto. Anyone else interested should click here for registration details plus a sneak peek at the projects. Class starts on August 10th!

The Singer

I'm a lucky girl—when Matthew and I got married, his amazing vintage Singer sewing machine was part of the bargain. But truth be told I've always been a little intimidated by it, so I decided to conquer my fears at long last and just completed The Works introductory package at Craft Haven. I can't say enough good things about the classes—I now know my way around buttonholes and zippers and other fun stuff, and what's more, I have a solid understanding of how the machine works. (We used much newer machines in class, but the overview was detailed enough that I was able to figure out the equivalents on our 401a.)

So of course, all I want to do in my free time now is sew. If anyone has any good starter projects, please let me know!
