When I was little, I wanted to be the person who painted holiday scenes on supermarket windows during the wintertime, and when I was pregnant with Dylan and trying to figure out how I was going to combine creative work with raising a little one, I had dreams of apprenticing at New Bohemia Signs with him in a Baby Björn. (Until someone burst that bubble and told me that the paint they use is incredibly toxic — although I now realize toxic fumes wouldn't be the only obstacle in sign painting with a newborn!)
So needless to say, I'm pretty excited to see Faythe Levine and Sam Macon's documentary about this oft-overlooked art. I'll be keeping tabs on this page for screenings in San Francisco. And maybe I can do that apprenticeship when Dylan is in preschool...
We're super-excited to be DJing the Mom Inc book launch party, tomorrow night at West Elm! The subject—running a business from home—is near and dear to my heart, and I'm eager to snag a copy and see what authors Meg and Cat have to share. Plus, local design moms from Yellow Owl Workshop, Petit Collage, and Chewing the Cud will be selling their wares. We hope to see you there! (Details here.)
