Luck affects everything. Let your hook always be cast; in the stream where you least expect it there will be a fish.

Happy Memorial Day

Lots of friends, food, and biking plus one game night equals a pretty amazing holiday weekend! Just what we needed to recharge a bit. Hope yours was just as great!

Chris + Annie

We came across kindred spirits Chris and Annie Koelle a while back while participating in a Poppytalk Handmade Market, and have been meaning to do a post on them ever since!

The talented pair met in college as art majors and make all kinds of good stuff together. We love following their work and inspiration on their blog, where we discovered Annie has a philosophy very similar to ours:
I think I have several goals I try to accomplish with each piece of art: to express my personal appreciation for the object shown and to provoke the viewer to appreciation for that object when they come across it again in their own lives. Did I explain that correctly? How about this: be thankful for all the wonderful things you have been given—strawberries, breakfast, cake, birds, lovely brooches, everything.

One of those wonderful things we share an appreciation of? Bikes! Be sure and check out Chris's bike art shop, Sweet Ride, as well as the Koelle Art blog and shop.

Artcrank SF

We kicked off our super-busy (and super-fun!) weekend by delivering our posters to Chrome, for the Artcrank poster show this coming Saturday from 7 – 11 pm. We're pretty excited to be a part of this "poster party for bike people" and hope those of you who are local will stop by! Admission is free, all posters are $30, and best of all, Chrome and Artcrank will donate $4.00 for every poster purchased to Bikes To Rwanda. Check out the Artcrank website for a full list of participating artists.

Our contribution (below) is a variation on some wood veneer postcards we previously printed—we've been told wood veneer is a first for Artcrank, which makes us even.

The Little Things

Tag, we're it! The lovely Samantha of Maquette asked us to share five "unimportant" things that make us happy. How about:

1. balloon-powered bikes
2. cats on laps
3. snug days
4. a good mystery (Sandy)
5. my plush neapolitan ice-cream sandwich (Matthew)

Putting this list together was the perfect Thanksgiving-time task to get us thinking about all we have to be thankful for, large and small.

We're tagging Shannon Loves Sabbath, Little Paper Planes, The Story Unfolds, Suffix Abuse, and Mixed Plate. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Joy Ride

I've been coveting my friend Ling's celeste green Bianchi for ages, and then about a week ago Matthew and Steve found one on craigslist for me. They drove all the way down to Monterey to pick it up, and now I'm the proud owner of a bike for the first time since junior high. I hit the city streets for the first time this afternoon with Matthew, and I must say I'm hooked! Since we don't have a car, it is sooo nice to have an alternative to public transportation.

(And for a fitting side note: we have been talking with a local company about designing some messenger bags, and will share details when we are able!)
